How might a conversation go with a committee if this dead horse were a metaphor for a program in the church that used to be successful?
“God used this program when I was growing up? How can we revive it? asked the committee chair.
“We need a new trainer, new leadership,” answered one.
“The horse could use a new saddle,” suggested a keen observer.
“A couple of horse shoes are missing and need to be replaced,” recommended another. “It could run faster with new shoes.”
“What we really need to do is feed it better food,” said an old timer.
Then the newest person to the committee said, “That horse is dead.”
